Obituary

WORCESTER-Walter F. Shliapa, 66, of Worcester passed away Thursday, July 14 at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Ann Marie (Quinn) Shliapa; three children, Dawn and her husband, Bruce Gaudreau of Auburn, Keith and his wife, Kylee Shliapa of Worcester and Christopher and his wife, Andrea Shliapa of Holden; five grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, Mac Shliapa, Emma and Abigail Gaudreau; his mother, Mary (Navasinskas) Winsky of Worcester; two sisters, Christine and her husband, Richard Sandberg of Worcester and Laura Dimino of Mechanicsburg, PA and nieces and nephews. His father, Walter Shliapa and his step-father, Steven Winsky predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, graduated from South High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Walter worked at National Standard Worcester Wire Works for many years, before retiring. He was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post #435. His favorite joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 25 at 11:00AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605. Arrangements in the care of FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
