William W. Reid, 84, of Franklin formerly of Boston, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Medway Country Manor in Medway. He was the beloved husband of Carole (Ekstrom) Reid for 62 years.
Born in Boston, MA on October 18, 1931 he was the son of the late James M. and Nellie (Milligan) Reid. Mr. Reid grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Boston Technical High School. He then went on to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and Dean College in Franklin.
Bill then married Carole, a lifelong Franklin resident, and they settled in Franklin, MA, where they raised their family and spent that last 62 years.
Bill worked as an Assistant Manufacturing Engineer for the Foxboro Company for 20 years and was a member of the Franklin Fire Dept. for 39 years serving in various positions. Bill was a member of Excelsior Lodge AM&FM for over 50 years and was a Past Master. He also enjoyed painting, coin collecting and watching all the Patriots and Red Sox games.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donna Ryan and her husband Kevin of Franklin, Beverly Reid and her husband retired USCG CWO4 David X. Foley, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL, and retired LAPD Sergeant James M. Reid and his Fiancé, Natalie Blancardi of Valencia, CA.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeffrey Kinney, Michelle Conlin, Ashley Kinney, Hannah, David, Emily, and Sean Reid-Foley; Jennifer French, Janice Reid, and Taylor O`Lear-Reid. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, July 18 at 10:00 AM in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin. Interment will take place at Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
