Obituary

CHICOPEE – Gloria Y. (Gosselin) DeJordy, 84, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Vibra Hospital of Western Mass in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 9, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Almanzor and Irene (Spinks) Gosselin. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, attended the former Mount Carmel Elementary School in Chicopee and the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She previously worked at the former National Blank Book Company, Holyoke Photo Mount and the F. W. Sickles Company. She was employed by the Chicopee School Department as a Noon Mother and Bus Monitor for 30 years at the Lambert-Lavoie Elementary School in Aldenville. Most of all, she was a loving woman who was affectionately known to her family as “Grammy”. She will be remembered for the talented sewing, crafts, her wonderful turkey dinners, French meat pies, homemade play dough and Christmas mornings. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Edward R. “Red” DeJordy. They were married on May 24, 1952 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. She also leaves her two loving children, Thomas E. DeJordy and his wife, Donna, of Chicopee and Victoria A. Cassidy and her husband, Steven, of Agawam; her three cherished grandchildren, Allison M. DeJordy, John E. Cassidy and his wife, Natasha and Kelly M. Healy and her husband, Dennis; her two cherished great-granddaughters, Adeline Grace Cassidy and Hannah Healy; her dear sister-in-law, Barbara Gosselin of Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the DeJordy and Gosselin families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her three dear brothers, Donald Gosselin, Henry Gosselin and Norman Gosselin. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, July 16, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, July 16, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
