TRAHEY, JOSEPH F. Jr., 91, died peacefully at his home on Sunday July 10, 2016 surrounded by his family. Joe was born on December 8, 1924 in South Boston, Massachusetts. Joe joined the Army and served during WWII in Europe and then in Japan with the Army’s 97th Infantry Division, 365th Field Artillery Battalion. At the time of his retirement, Joe was employed as Assistant State Superintendent with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Penelope Loftus Trahey, and the couple has resided in Norwell, Massachusetts for the past 43 years. Joe is also survived by his daughter, Sheila M. Kirkwood and his granddaughter Christina Aislinn Kirkwood both of Harwinton , CT, his grandson Brian J Ladouceur, Jr. and his wife Kerry and his two great grandchildren, Brian J Ladouceur, III and Brady Anne Ladouceur all of Avon , CT. He also leaves behind his sister Mary Trahey of South Boston, MA. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday July 18, 2016 at the St. Augustine Cemetery Chapel in South Boston. Burial will be at Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell, MA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Joe’s name to a charity of your choice.
