Obituary


Bridgewater – Roland S. “Steve” Bowden 85, died Tuesday July 12 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor C. (Anderson) Bowden.

Raised in Deerfield, NH he was the son of the late Russell and Lucy (Stiles) Bowden. Steve graduated from Manchester Central High School, Class of 1950.

He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy having served from 1950 – 1954.

Prior to his move to Bridgewater, Steve had been a resident of Whitman for over thirty years where he and his wife Eleanor lived with their three children.

For over twenty-five years he had worked as a machinist and tool & die maker for the former Armstrong Cork Company. For almost five years as grounds keeper for Thorney Lee Country Club of Brockton.

He is survived by his loving daughter Karen Long and her husband Thomas of Bridgewater and his grandchildren Zachary and Audrey Long. He was predeceased by his son Steven and his daughter Nancy.

His funeral service will be held Friday July 15 at 12:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
