Sylvia H. O'Keefe passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Sunday. She was 86. Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmela (Vecchi) Urciuoli. She lived in Revere and raised her family in Somerville before settling in Medford. She was devoted to the care of her family and also worked for 25 years at Tufts University in the Dinning services Department and retired as a payroll clerk. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary, Aerie 893 Malden.
The beloved wife of the late John J. O’Keefe, Jr. she was a devoted mother to Cynthia Avola of Medford, Patricia Laisure of Saugus, Timothy O’Keefe of New Hampshire, Christopher O’Keefe of Stoneham, Ellen O’Keefe of Medford and the late John “Jackie” O’Keefe. She also leaves 15 loving grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 AM on Thursday, July 14 at St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 thru 8 PM and also gather for the procession at 9 on Thursday morning.
