NNEW BEDFORD — Hilda F. Raposo, age 84, passed away on Friday July 8, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Manuel P. Raposo and the daughter of the late Manuel and Beatrice (Ferreira) Furtado.
Hilda was born in St. Michael, Azores and, after moving to this country, worked as a stitcher until her retirement. She was the longtime companion of over 40 years to Jose Andreza and his 3 chldren Tina, Maria, and Joe. Hilda was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a strong and good hearted woman who enjoyed life and was allways there with a helping hand to everyone. Hilda was the best mom and grandma ever and worked her whole life until her retirement.
Her family includes her children, Maria Ferreira of New Bedford and the late Manuel Raposo; stepchildren: Deborah Sousa of New Bedford, the late Raymond Raposo and the late Theresa Ferreira; 2 grandchildren: Tyrone Ferreira Houtman and Nathan Rapoza and his companion Sonia Soares; great grandchild, Dominic Rapoza; 3 brothers: Joao Furtado and his wife, Maria, of New Bedford, Jaime Furtado and his wife, Dolores, of New Bedford, Luis Furtado and his wife, Gilberta, of Freetown; 2 sisters, Dora Ferreira of New Bedford, Lydia Deus and her husband, Jose of Dartmouth; deceased siblings: Gloria F. Amaral, Guilhermina Raposo, Naria Sousa, Jorselina Pacheco, Manuel Furtado; bother in-law, Abilio Pacheco of Toronto; sister in-law Gloria Furtado and step granddaughter Jessica Sousa and baby; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday evening July 14 from 4 – 6 P.M. with a cremation to follow. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
