Obituary

Charles Franklin Savage, age 64, of East Bridgewater, died at Boston Medical Center on July 8, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Brockton, Charlie was the son of the late Clyde and Mabel (Eddy) Savage. Charlie, a graduate of Brockton High School, was a storyteller and entrepreneur, but first and foremost was a musician. Starting with accordion at age 5, he spent the next 60 years singing and entertaining people on the accordion, piano, keyboards and other instruments. A veteran performer of over 1,000 weddings and numerous other events, he also taught piano to many students. He wrote and recorded a number of songs, including many children’s songs. He was especially proud of songs he wrote benefitting the Special Olympics and those honoring our veterans.

Charlie is fondly remembered by friends and family for his humor, generosity, and positive outlook on life. When he wasn’t playing or teaching music, he loved to fish, follow the Patriots, watch movies and spend time with family and friends.

Charlie is survived by his children Eric Savage and his wife Reeny, Julie Savage and Bonnie Morse and her husband Jonathan; granddaughter Audrey Morse, an expected grandson, his brother Clyde Savage, Jr. and his wife Carolyn, his devoted and loving companion Joanna Lang, sister-in-law Candace Savage and nieces Christina Willey and Shannon Lawrence. He was the brother of the late Duane Savage.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-7:30pm, followed by a funeral Service at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, Charlie’s family would prefer donations to the Music and Youth Initiative, 398 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA 02116 or www.musicandyouth.org.
