WORCESTER-Steven F. Fortin, 60, of 63 Gates St. died Saturday, July 2 with his family by his side.
Steve leaves his wife of 23 years, Sheila (Salmon) Fortin; three sons, Donald, John and Sean Fortin all of Worcester; five siblings, Donald and his wife, Gail Fortin of Overland Park, KS, Paul and his wife, Linda Fortin of Worcester, Cathleen and her husband Gary Costello of Auburn, Raymond Fortin and Lisa Fortin and her finace, Jeffrey Snow all of Worcester; a close family friend, Dale Robertson; an aunt, Betty-Ann Fortin; his brother-in-laws, Danny and Dennis Salmon all of Worcester; a grandson, Donnie and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Brian and a niece, Kara predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Donald G. and Joan M. (Belair) Fortin and graduated from South High School and served four years with the U.S. Coast Guard as a Radar Technician.
Steve worked for several painting and moving companies in Worcester and the surrounding towns. He was extremely handy and could build and fix anything. Steve was quick with a joke and loved his Red Sox and Patriots. He leaves behind many friends throughout his neighborhood that will miss his presence. Other than his children, he will be missed most by his best friend and constant buddy, his brother Ray. They share a special kinship that went beyond the bounds of brotherhood.
Visiting Hours are on Tuesday, July 12th from 4 to 6PM at CALLAHAN FAY CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13th at 11:00am at St. Peters Church,929 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605.
