Mrs. Alice M. (Morin) Kluk, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away at the Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover on Monday July 4, 2016. She was 95 years old. Alice was born October 8, 1920 to Henry and Alice (Vaillancourt) Morin. She attended Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1939. She was married to the late Walter J. Kluk for 38 years and was the mother of four children. She was employed for 28 years at the former Western Electric and AT&T Technologies before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence and later St. Augustine’s in Andover and was a member and former officer of The Third Order of Mary Society.
Alice loved nature. She was an avid walker and in her 60’s became interested in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. She enjoyed winter and loved to go outside when it was snowing. She also enjoyed traveling after her retirement. She traveled to the Grand Ol’ Opry, the Rocky Mountains, Hawaii and frequently to Canada, the birthplace of her parents. Her favorite trip was an excursion to Alaska where she got to stay in a log cabin in Denali National Park, hike in Glacier National Park and go snowshoeing in the Canadian Rockies.
Flower gardening was also a favorite pastime and irises were her favorite flowers. She planted many of them around the yard throughout the years. She loved tending to her flowers and doing yard work. She especially enjoyed being out in the yard accompanied by one of her cats. Alice always shared her life with at least one cat (or more!) and usually had one by her side.
Alice was predeceased by her brothers Henry, Wilfred “Pat”, and Raymond “Dick” Morin. She is survived by her children Karen Kluk of Lawrence; Christine and her husband, Donald Zube of Salem, NH; Eric Kluk and his wife, Camille of Salem, NH; and Paula Kluk of Lawrence. She is also the grandmother of Jarrett Zube and his wife, Yomayra of Meriden, CT.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Prescott House for their care and for helping our mother feel happy and content during her stay.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St. Andover, on Monday July 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Interment will be held in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alice's name to the MSPCA 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or the Alzheimers Association, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
