FALL RIVER - Antone Mello, 74, of 261 Emmett St. Fall River, died Tuesday, July 19th in Charlton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Joan M. (Linhares) Mello. Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by 2 SONS: Dr. Douglas Mello & his wife Lisa of Dartmouth, and Carl Mello & his wife Susan of Mansfield, 4 DAUGHTERS: Lisa Laing & her husband Larry of Bridgewater, Karen Walsh & her husband Shaun of Marion, Lori Mello of Fall River, and Kristen Drummy & her husband Timothy of Boston, 2 SISTERS: Lorraine Alves and Lydia Pedro, 8 GRANDCHILDREN: Benjamin Laing, Sarah, Hannah, and Caroline Walsh, Noah, Owen, and Sadie Mello, and Jack Drummy, and several nieces & nephews.
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Antonio R. Mello and the late Evangelina (Soares) Mello. He was a life long resident of Fall River and a retired Lieutenant for the Fall River Fire Department where he served for 34 years. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a recipient of a Purple Heart for injuries received during his time of service.
His funeral will take place on Saturday, July 23rd at 9:00 A.M. from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. Fall River, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd. Fall River. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, RI. CALLING HOURS ARE FRIDAY, JULY 22ND FROM 5:00 TO 9:00 P.M.
