Obituary

Arthur Thomas Clayton, 86, of Johnston, RI passed on July 5th , 2016 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Soscia Clayton.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Truesdale) Clayton. He had lived in Johnston.

Arthur was the co-founder of Crown Optical and the recipient of the RI Small Business of the Year Award and was honored at the White House. Arthur was the 1948 Class President of Mount Pleasant High School. He had served the country with service in the US Navy reserves. He loved to dance, an avid golfer and a member of Glocester CC for 48 years. His family was always the most important, always enjoying his morning coffee with his sons and spending as much time with his four grandchildren: Lily, Tyler, Grant and Molly. He loved attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his sons, Tom and his wife, Candita of Rumford and Robert and his wife, Karen of Cranston, and a sister, Norma Farrow of Scituate.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Friday 4-7pm.
