SPRINGFIELD – Edna C. “Kay” (Keefe) Rossini, 91, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at the Putnam Ridge Nursing Home in Brewster, New York, surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Townsend, Massachusetts on April 20, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Richard A. and Charlotte B. (Hobart) Keefe. She was raised in Townsend and graduated from the Spaulding Memorial High School in Townsend. She moved to Springfield in 1945 and lived on Hungry Hill for many years before moving to Brewster in 2015. She was employed as a ward attendant at the former Lovell General Hospital North at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and later worked as a machine operator at the former W.F. Young Company in Springfield. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and was a former Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader in Springfield. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who adored her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond J. Rossini who was Called Home on June 14, 2003. They were married on October 7, 1945 at Saint John Church in Townsend and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Willis Keefe; and her three dear sisters, June Abrozie, Charlotte Newcombe and Barbara Creighton. She leaves to cherish her memory her three loving children, Ronald R. Rossini and his wife, Donna, of Springfield, Donna M. Shenkman of Carmel, NY and Debra A. Donovan and her husband, Paul, of Westfield; her four cherished grandchildren, Robin Rossini, Raymond Rossini and his wife, Vanessa, Brandon Shenkman and his partner, Ashley LaRue, and Daniel Donovan; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Samuel Halley, Benjamin Halley, Connor Shenkman and Raven Rossini; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rossini and Keefe families. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, July 11, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (the funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William Street, Springfield, MA 01105. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
