Obituary

Edna Camuso of Windham, NH and formerly of Methuen and Groveland MA, passed away peacefully and gracefully on July 6, 2016 at the age of 93 surrounded by her family. Edna will be deeply missed by her granddaughters, Christine Speciale and Lisa MacLeod, her great-grandchildren, her son Edward Marudzinski, and her nieces, nephews, stepsons, and their families.

Edna was born in Groveland, Massachusetts and grew up working with her family on the Sudol Dairy Farm. Her memories of her family and their time on the farm were some of her most cherished and stayed with her even as many of her memories faded over the last few years. She was the last of her generation (one of eight children born to proud Polish immigrants) and also was preceded in death by her first husband William J. Marudzinski and her second, Howard J. Camuso.

She was a graduate of Groveland High School in 1941 and after 29 years of employment as a layout operator she retired from the Western Electric Company. She worked hard most of her life as a young widow supporting her son and ensuring she could provide for him and proudly send him to private high school and college.

Edna shared a special relationship with her sisters and cherished memories of working on the farm, learning to oil and watercolor paint, picking blueberries, quilting and traveling to Poland with them. She was an ardent golfer and could often be found enjoying a round with family and friends at Merrimack Valley, Andover Country Club and the Naples Grande Golf Courses. When not on the golf course she could be found working on a project, quilting with her sisters, sewing dolls for granddaughters or making one of her countless cozy afghans. Her artwork and handcraft adorn the walls of her family's homes and will be treasured reminders of her and the love and care she gave to them.

Her granddaughters, Christine and Lisa, will always remember the times spent making Christmas ornaments, playing her organ and learning to make pierogis with her. We will be forever thankful to her for passing down this tradition to us and have begun sharing it with our own children. We will think of her each time we admire her artwork, pick blueberries, or hear a lively polka song.

We warmly welcome her family and friends to attend a Catholic Mass and burial on Saturday, July 9th at 9 AM at Saint Lucy’s Church in Methuen to celebrate her life. Interment to follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Haverhill. We would like to give special thanks to the staff at Grace House in Windham NH who provided her with committed gentle care during the last months of her life.
