Obituary


William G. Fox (Bill), 84, of Foxboro, died peacefully on July 3rd, following complications from surgery. He was surrounded by his loving family, and the caring staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
A memorial will be held on July 9, 2016 at 3pm at The Unitarian Church, 4 North Main St., Sharon. His ashes will be scattered by the family following the memorial service at the Sharon Unitarian Church’s Memorial Garden.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, and completed his course work in Engineering Administration at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He was a registered Professional Engineer.
Bill was a Naval Officer and taught at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He was a General Manager at Foxboro Company, VP of Quality at Millipore Corporation and an independent Quality Management Systems consultant.
Bill was happily married to Erna for 64 years. Bill is survived by Erna and their beloved children: Vanessa Fox and her husband Cecil Dorman; Valerie Contois; Bill Fox and his wife Toni; and Ken Fox. His adored grandchildren are Jenn, Jordan, Danielle, Holden, Bailey, Mia, Alvina, Geneva, Venice and Vienna and great-grandchildren Ruby and Willian Holden. He is also survived by his sister Jean Kelleher and her children Rick, Tom and Corinne, and his sister-in-law, Edith Wooding. He was very proud and took great joy connecting and challenging his extended family and friends.
He was very active with the Sharon Unitarian Church, as Treasurer and in the Men’s Group. He served as the leader of the Truax Bridge Club and participated in several other bridge groups. He was the Treasurer and a Trustee of the Cannon Forge Condo Association, and very involved in the Foxboro Investment Club. Bill was also a volunteer driver for FISH in Foxboro. He loved his family, music, theater (attending and performing) and especially expanding his knowledge of the world through reading. He was a student and teacher in the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement.
In lieu of flowers, Bill requested donations be made to the Endowment Fund of the Unitarian Church of Sharon, 4 North Main St, Sharon, MA 02067.
