Norman Elvin White, 75, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Medical Center of Central Georgia Navicent Health in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, July 7, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. White was born April 15, 1941, in Norman Park, Georgia, to the late Norman Edward & Mary Etta Howard White. He was a lifelong civil engineer and pipeline inspector working in the oil and gas pipeline industry. Mr. White worked in over 30 countries in his career that spanned more than 50 years. He was a pioneer in the industry working on the Trans Alaskan pipeline as well as many jobs in South America. He was a hard worker and was still active in the industry, earning respect throughout the world for his experience and knowledge. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years and was a member of the former Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Hamilton White of Fitzgerald; three sons: Eric & Ruth White of Abbeville, Stacy White of Albany, and Steven White of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Devin Shawn White, Dustin Shaye White and his wife Allicyn, Kalae Anastasia White, Stevie Eilena Nikkie White, and Alyssa Rachelle White; three great-grandchildren: Destin Shawn White and Serenity Faith White and Ava-Grace White, expected in August; eight brothers and sisters: Clarence Edward White, Cecil & Edna White, Margaret & Pat Sporner, George Henry & Sandy White, Gene & Deborah White, Gloria & Ricky Morse, Lynn Anglin, and Roger White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
