Obituary

Francis G Barnes “Barney”, 73, of Callahan, passed away peacefully at the Warner Center for Caring, Fernandina Beach, FL Monday, July 4, 2016 .
Barney was born in Westifeld, Mass the son of Predeceased Francis and Marion Barnes .
Barney attended Southwick Schools and Graduated at Springfield Trade High in Mass. He attended First Baptist Church of Gray Gables. Over the years he had worked as a welder, tractor trailer mechanic for various companies as well as Intermodal manager ALCO equipment.
Barney was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Kids and grandkids.
Barney was awarded an Heroism Award for diving in Congamund Lake in Southwick Mass rescuing and saving three young boys when their snowmobile plunged through slush covered ice.
On October 10, 1962 in Southwick Mass he married Patricia Johnson who survives. Besides his wife Patricia of Southwick Mass he is survived by his children Tina Platt and husband Lenny Platt, Annette Clements and husband Bill Clements . Also surviving are his siblings Sue Falcetti and Husband Fred of Westfield, Mass June Williams of East Hampton, Mass, John Barnes and wife Kathy of Belchertown, Mass. Survived Grandchildren Brittany Kicker of Callahan,Fl and husband Christopher Billy J Manchester and Emma R Platt. Great Grandchild Grace Kicker Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive Friends Friday July 8, 2016 First Baptist Church Gray Gables for viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service.
Entombment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery, Yulee, Fl
