MATTHEW J. MUNCY, age 87, of Hull, died on Monday, July 18th at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Muncy was born in Hull and was a lifelong resident of the town. He served with the Unites States Army during World War II. In 1946, after returning after the war, he joined the Hull Highway Department and was appointed Superintendant in 1963. He retired from the department in March of 1976 after over 30 years of service to the town. Mr. Muncy then established M & M. Construction Co. in Hull and worked until well into his 80's. He was a member of the Hull Lion's Club and was an active volunteer in many of the local organizations.
Husband of the late Maude P. (Sylvester) Muncy, he was the father of David E. Muncy of Brockton, James M. Muncy and Carol Ann McWilliams both of Hull and Jean M. Muncy of Braintree. Brother of the late James Muncy. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, July 22nd at 10 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron St., Cambridge, MA 02140.
Interment in Hull Village Cemetery.
