Darryl Lee Allen, 63, of Stonington died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Ct. He was born on August 2, 1952, in Westerly, RI, the son of Duane R. and Edith E. (Martell) Allen. He grew up in Stonington, graduating from Stonington High School in 1971.
He worked 42 years for Electric Boat, he started as a machinist then went on to become a Marine Draftsman, retiring in 2013.
He was a active member of the German club. He was a very generous man to everyone he ever met. He liked fishing, golfing and helping people who needed it. He also loved getting together with friends and family to play guitar. He loved his Harley Davidson, he went on a few road trips with David Martell and spoke of the trips often. He liked going for rides with Phillip Gwiazdowski in Darryl's Mustang.
Darryl is survived by his siblings, his twin sister Cheryl A. Chase of Stonington, his brother Duane R. Allen Jr., and Dana Allen; his nieces, Julie(Chase) Gwiazdowski and Melissa (Allen)Bogue; his nephews, Daniel R. Allen, Dana Allen Jr., Michael Allen and Nathaniel Allen. He has seven grand nieces and nephews, Samantha Tice, Morgan Gwiazdowski, Kayla Gwiazdowski, Hanna Gwiazdowski, Jimmy Allen, Casey Allen, and Reese Bogue.
He was pre-deceased by his mother and father.
Darryl's family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, July 8, from 12noon to 1pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, Ct. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1pm at the funeral home, with burial immediately following in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, Ct.
