Obituary

James DeSimone of Natick, formerly of Wellesley, passed away after a long illness on Sunday morning, July 3, 2016. He was the husband of Pamela (Goodale) DeSimone for 48 years.

James, who was born in Marlborough, was the last surviving of 15 children born to the late Christina (Maiorano) and Alphonse DeSimone, originally from Jelsi, Provincia de Campobasso, Italy. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School and was one of five brothers to serve their country during World War II.

An accomplished pianist, James had studied at the then Berklee School of Music. James' career spanned more than 50 years, giving solo performances, accompanying well known singers, and playing with ensembles of varying sizes. Primarily a jazz musician, he most often played venues in Boston, on Cape Cod, and at Hampton Beach.

Predeceased by his son James in 2002, he is survived by Pamela, their two daughters, Jennifer DeSimone of Wakefield, and Rebecca DeSimone of Natick, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Friday, July 8th at 10:00AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
