Doris (McKnight) Sanford, 88, of Westport, MA passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Clifton Rehabilitation Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Roger A. Sanford.
Doris was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late William H. and Annie (Simpson) McKnight. She was a longtime resident of Westport and loved spending her winters in Naples, FL. She had worked as a secretary for Continental Screw Co. in New Bedford and later retired from Bridgewater Credit Union in 1993. Doris was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. She was a past President and a member of the Westport Woman’s Club. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all of the staff at Clifton Rehabilitation Nursing Center for the compassionate care they gave to Doris.
Survivors include her son: David R. Sanford and his wife Alicia of Westport; her daughter: Barbara S. Lees and her husband David of Naples, FL; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late William and Harold McKnight and Jean Manchester.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, Westport Point at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be private.
