Ernestine F. Callahan, of Brookline, NH formerly of Salem, NH, Wilmington and Woburn, passed away at the Community Hospice House of Merrimack, NH, July 2, 2016, following a period of declining health. "Fay" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends was the beloved wife of the late Russell M. Callahan. Born in Wilmington she was one of fourteen children of the late Walter and Charlotte (Snelling) Colgate.
Fay was raised and educated in Wilmington and was graduate of Wilmington High School. She lived in Woburn for twenty-five years where she raised her family and was an active parishioner of the North Congregational Church. For the past seven years she was a resident of Brookline, NH. Fay was totally devoted to her family and was the sole caregiver of her mother and also her husband for many years prior their passing. Nothing gave her more joy than caring for the needs of her family and making sure that her home was always a warm and welcoming place for them to be together.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Fay is sadly predeceased by her siblings. She is lovingly survived by her devoted children, Harry King of Ft. Pierce, FL, Russell M. Callahan Jr. of Billerica, and Ernestine F. "Tina" Callahan of Brookline, NH. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Thursday, July 7th, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
