DONALD J. LAPOINTE, A RESIDENT OF BROCKTON AND FORMER LONGTIME RESIDENT OF CHARLESTOWN, ENTERED INTO ETERNAL LIFE SUDDENLY ON SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2016 AT GOOD SAMARITAN MEDICAL CENTER IN BROCKTON. HE WAS 53 YEARS OLD.
DONALD WAS BORN IN BOSTON ON MARCH 10, 1963, A SON OF THE LATE GUY J. LAPOINTE AND CLAIRE L. (JAMES) LAPOINTE. HE GREW UP IN CHARLESTOWN WHERE HE WAS EDUCATED IN THE BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. DONALD ENLISTED INTO THE UNITED STATES NAVY ON AUGUST 27, 1981 AND SERVED ON BOARD THE U.S.S. PORTLAND WITH HONOR AND COURAGE. HE WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED SEPTEMBER 10, 1985 WITH THE RANK OF YNSA FOLLOWING 4 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY. DONALD HAD BEEN WORKING AS A PAINTER IN THE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS.
DONALD IS THE BELOVED SON OF THE LATE GUY J. LAPOINTE AND CLAIRE L. (JAMES) LAPOINTE. HE IS THE DEVOTED TWIN BROTHER TO PAUL LAPOINTE. HE IS THE BELOVED BROTHER OF PHILIP AND JANE RAND, IRENE CURTIN AND MARLENE PELKEY, GUY AND DEBORAH LAPOINTE, THOMAS AND CYNTHIA LAPOINTE, KEVIN AND CATHERINE LAPOINTE, WILLIAM LAPOINTE AND MAI NGUYEN, WARREN AND ANNETTE LAPOINTE, DAVID AND LEAH LAPOINTE, ALICE SEWELL AND THE LATE ROBERT LAPOINTE. HE IS ALSO THE LOVING UNCLE TO MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND DONALD'S VISITING HOURS ON THURSDAY, JULY 7, 2016 FROM 4 TO 8 P.M. WITH A PRAYER SERVICE AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE CARR FUNERAL HOME, 220 BUNKER HILL ST. CHARLESTOWN. HIS BURIAL AT THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION NATIONAL CEMETERY IN BOURNE WILL BE PRIVATE.
