Obituary

Katherine “Kitsie” Davenport Lindsay, 83, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and a long-time resident of Birmingham, Alabama died Friday, July 1 at a local hospital in the company of family and friends.

She was born November 25, 1932 in Boston, the daughter of the late Dr. Raeburn R. Davenport and Katherine (Ranney) Davenport. She grew up in Walpole and graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She resided in Birmingham after her marriage to the late Dr. Raymond H. Lindsay.

She was a retired claims authorizer with the Social Security Administration.

Ms. Lindsay enjoyed reading, traveling, lobster, flowers, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was once very active in the Alabama League of Women Voters and an avid bridge player.

She was the sister of the late Sally D. White and Nancy Davenport.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Tatum of Maylene, Alabama; Philip Lindsay and his wife Deborah of Bonaire, Georgia; Scott Lindsay and his wife Lisa of Tallahassee, Florida; Gary Lindsay and his wife Sheryl of Fairhope, Alabama.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, July 9 from 9 – 11 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street, Walpole (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Walpole.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
