PEABODY: Helen (Edwards) Teittinen formerly of Weston died peacefully on June 30, 2016.
She was born in Websterville, Vermont on January 1, 1917 the daughter of the late Emma (Seale) Edwards and Arthur Robert Edwards.
Helen was the wife for 60 years of the late Aimo H. Teittinen, a long time educator in Weston, who died on September 5, 2003. Mother of Suzanne Teittinen Joyce and her husband Peter of Leland, N.C., Robert E. Teittinen and his wife Joelene of Litchfield, CT and David Teittinen and his wife Linda of Duxbury. She was the grandmother of Andrew Joyce, Sarah Joyce Kehoe and her husband Peter, Daryl Teittinen and his wife Christine, Daphne Teittinen-Schreck and her husband Dan, Lindsay Teittinen Hoyt and her husband Aaron and Brooke Teittinen and great-grandmother of Eliza Seale Teittinen and Benjamin Walter Schreck.
She was a graduate of Haverhill High School and Bridgewater State University with a BS in Education. She taught school in Hanson, Haverhill, Maynard and The Riverdale Country School for Boys in Riverdale, NY. She was a member of the Weston United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Women’s Society and Altar Guild. Also, she volunteered at the Waltham Hospital and the Clothing Exchange in Weston.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 o’clock at the Weston United Methodist Church, 377 North Avenue, Weston.
Private family interment will take place in the Teittinen family lot in Linwood Cemetery in Weston.
