Obituary

Ophelia Batey Daner, 94, passed away on June 28, 2016 in the Hospice of the Treasure Coast House in Stuart, Florida.

Born in Franklin County, Alabama, she had previously lived in Fitzgerald, GA & Macon, GA before relocating to the Stuart area in 1972. Mrs. Daner owned her own hair salon, Ophelia's Hair Fashions in Macon, GA. She also opened and was the co-owner of Harrison Electric and Lighting Supply in Stuart from 1972 until 2001.

She loved to play bridge and continued playing up to a week before entering Hospice. She was an avid golfer and played weekly up to her mid eighties. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Stuart for many years and loved her fellowship there with her Sunday School class friends. After retirement she and her husband became world travelers visiting at least 160 countries. She loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is now resting in His arms.

Mrs. Daner is survived by her son, Chuck Batey (Alice) of Stuart, FL; son, Larry Batey ( Mary) of Palm City, FL; granddaughter, Lori Churukian (Joe) of Dacula, GA; grandson, Ted Batey (Breann) of Austin, TX; grandson, Andrew Batey of Palm City, FL; great grandson, Kayden of Palm City, FL; and great granddaughter, Evelyn Batey of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Daner, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations to First Baptist Church of Stuart or Treasure Coast Hospice.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Stuart, Stuart, FL. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016 at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating.
