Obituary

Carmela "Mela" Adorno, 85, of New Bedford died Wednesday June 29, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Manati, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Francisco Adorno and Martina Rivera, she lived in New Bedford since 1986.

She was a member of the Christian Revival Temple, where she was a member of the Ladies Society.

Mela enjoyed family gatherings and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her daughter, who was her pride and joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Antonia Trinidad and her fiancé Ramon Vazquez; her siblings, Virgilio Adorno, Benjamin Rivera, Justino Adorno, Ana Diaz, Mariana Adorno, and Rosa Adorno; three grandchildren, Sandro Quiles and his wife Milagros, Angel M. Trinidad and his wife Miriam, and Yaritza Quiles and her fiancé Michael Rodriguez; eleven great-grandchildren, Angel E. Trinidad, Janina L. Trinidad, Melissa Trinidad, Millienaysa Quiles, Genesis Quiles, Taina Rodriguez, Jailine M. Rodriguez, Nicholas Trinidad, Shanell Trinidad, Jose Trinidad, and Adrian Trinidad; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Erasmo Adorno, Domingo Adorno, Carlos Adorno, Armando Adorno, and Jose Adorno.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday July 5, 2016 from 5-9 PM.
