THOMAS, DOROTHY CATHERINE, 94, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home in Pleasure Ridge Park.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1921, in Louisville to the late Samuel P. Diehl Sr. and Lola Hayman Diehl. She was raised in the Portland neighborhood and attended Louisville public schools.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Julian I. Thomas; her brother, Rev. Samuel P. Diehl, and her sister, Lola Laverne Leathers.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Thomas Ford and Stephen J. Ford of Anchorage; her granddaughter, Olivia Ford of Princeton Junction, N.J., and her niece, Vicki Curry of Louisville.
She was a retired employee of many years for South Central Bell Telephone Co. and AT&T.
Dorothy was a founding member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shively. She was also a lover and benefactor of animals.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2304 Crums Lane, Shively, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway is in charge of arrangements.
