Lucille Marie-Berthe (Tanguay) Kilbride, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016. Born in St. Justine, Quebec, on October 25, 1924, she was the daughter of Rosaire and Albertine (Mathieu) Tanguay. She moved to Berlin with her family when she was 3 years old. Before she married, she worked at Ware Knitters in Berlin, NH.On August 12, 1950, she married Francis Arthur Kilbride and they raised four daughters. She spent many years enjoying the camp Francis and his family built at Akers Pond, Errol, NH. Many wonderful summers were spent with family and friends swimming, barbecuing and playing horseshoes. Lucille took daily walks through Berlin and averaged four miles each day. Francis joined her once he retired, and she continued to walk until she moved from Berlin. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed most of her own clothes. She then used the extra fabric to make a multitude of quilts now enjoyed by her family and friends. She also knit hats, mittens and slippers for many years, as well as sweaters for her grandsons. She liked to read magazines and the daily newspaper and to complete puzzles until her eyesight weakened. She had an incredible green thumb and enjoyed her rooms filled with house plants and wild flower gardens at camp. In 2005, she moved to Goffstown, NH to be closer to her daughters, and most recently resided at Ridgewood Center in Bedford, NH. When she was not able to walk safely outdoors, she took her daily walk in the hallways. She continued to read the local news in the Berlin Reporter after she moved.
Lucille leaves behind four daughters, Ann Vaughan of Morro Bay, California, and husband, Patrick Vaughan; Janet Kilbride of Millbury, MA, and husband, James Rice III; Noreen Kilbride of Antrim, NH, and husband, Charles Levesque; Nancy Kilbride of Bedford, NH, and significant other, Brian Hoffman; and two grandsons, Galen Kilbride and Benjamin Kilbride, both of Antrim, NH. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis, in 1993.
A private service will be held for family members. The Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin is in charge of the arrangements.
