Sylvia I. Hendricks (nee Johnson), 83, of Yarmouth Port passed away on June 28, 2016 at Milford Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sparrowbush, NY, she was the daughter of the late Willard L. and Irene J. (Hensz) Johnson. She was the sister of Willard Johnson and his wife Patricia of Canandaigua, NY.
Sylvia was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Hendricks to whom she was married for 53 years at his passing. She was the mother of Robert Hendricks, Michael Hendricks, Julie Wilcox and her husband, Mark. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin Hendricks, his wife Kelly, Tyler Hendricks, his wife Grace, and Patrick Wilcox and Nicole Fernandes. Sylvia is also survived by the loves of her life, her great-grandsons, Cameron Hendricks, Connor Hendricks and Traiger Wilcox. Sylvia also leaves many friends, cousins, nephews and nieces, and one aunt, Theresa (Hensz) Tebo.
Sylvia was an accomplished organist, who, over the years, played and led choirs in San Francisco and San Diego, CA, US Naval Academy Chapel at Annapolis, MD and locally at St. Mary Parish in Holliston, St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Medfield, and her own parish, St. Joseph in Medway.
A keen Boston Red Sox fan, Sylvia loved to watch a Sox game, especially at Fenway Park with her family. She also had a great appreciation for nature and birds. One of her favorite hobbies was to research family histories and passed down her love of genealogy to her daughter. But most of all, she was devoted to spending time with her family, friends, and her dogs, Maddie and Daisy. She will be greatly missed by all.
A private burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be at the convenience of the family.
The Hendricks family is deeply grateful to the staff of the Intensive Care Unit and clergy at Milford Regional Medical Center for their expertise and compassion.
