TAUNTON – Jose “Joe” Duarte Serpa, husband of Maria (Freitas) Serpa, died unexpectedly at his Taunton home on June 27, 2016. He was 68.
Born in Pico, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel V. and Serafina (Medeiros) Serpa.
Joe moved to Taunton in 1995 from New Bedford where he resided for many years. He was employed by Kyler Seafood as a project manager for over 35 years, and was known as a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family.
Besides his wife of 20 years, he leaves three sons, Kevin, Alan and Jeffrey Serpa, all of New Bedford; four daughters, Nizalda Sousa of Fall River, Stacey Feliciano of Fall River, Helia Feliciano of Somerset and Emily Fagundes of Fall River; a brother, Manuel N. Serpa of New Bedford; two sisters, Irondina Pimentel of CA, and Maria DaRosa of NJ; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was also grandfather to the late Alexia and Aliyah Fagundes.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, July 7th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 6th from 4 to 7 p.m.
