WEBSTER – Irene J. (Bulejcik) Russell, 86, formerly of Ash St., died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Webster Manor after an illness. Her husband of 36 years, Leo J. “Joe” Russell, died in 1988.
She leaves a son, Peter J. Russell and his wife Donna of Hubbardston; a daughter, Donna A. Hart of Cumberland, RI; 7 grandchildren, Dr. Jesse Hart of Cumberland, RI, Atty. Kelly Hart of Washington, DC, Amy Hart of Cleveland, OH who is currently in medical school, Dr. Zachary Hart of Newark, NJ, Lucas Russell of Rutland, Kirk Russell of Worcester and Drew Russell of Boston; nieces and nephews. She was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great-grandson in September. She was preceded in death by her son Dr. Jay Russell in 1994 and by her daughter Linda L. Shockett in 2014.
She was born in Webster, the youngest of the 8 children of Stephen and Anna (Fabian) Bulejcik. She graduated from Bartlett High School and from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
A registered nurse, she worked for over 30 years at Webster District Hospital and then Hubbard Regional Hospital, where she was the supervisor of the operating room. She retired in 1995.
Mrs. Russell was a communicant of Saint Louis Church and a member of the St. Louis League of Catholic Women. She volunteered at the church festivals and served on the bereavement committee for many years. She served on the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurse Association of Southern Worcester County. She was also a 25-year member of the Serra Club of Southern Worcester County.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 1, at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street (please meet at the church). There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to All Saints Academy, Negus Street, Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
