WESTON: Santo Anza, Sr., 85, died comfortably surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston following a period of declining health.
He was born in Natick on June 29, 1930 the son of the late Vincenzo Anza and Nellie (Bianca) Anza.
Santo is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. (McKellip) Anza of Weston. Devoted father of Claudia Carpinone and her husband Richard of Methuen; Lisa Jacobs and her husband Ronald of Uxbridge; James Anza of Weston; Philip Anza of Milford; Santo Anza, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Northborough; Alexander Anza and his wife Susan of Weston; Leonore Anza of Methuen; Erika Anza of Maine and the late Stefan Anza who died in 1968. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Santo has been a lifelong resident of Weston and his family spans five generations residing in the community. He was the owner of Santo Anza Landscaping in Weston and upon retirement continued to operate the Anza Farm on Highland Street in Weston which has been in his family since the early 1920’s. He was a hard working and dedicated man and enjoyed raising the many animals on the farm. He was a member of the Massachusetts Farm Bureau. He was a wealth of information and enjoyed sharing stories about Weston and the history of the town to everyone he met. Driving through Weston, one can see the many stone walls that have been erected throughout the area by generations of the Anza family. He was a classic car enthusiast and loved to spend hours driving with his wife Mary all over the area. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed time spent with them. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Visitations for Santo will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
His funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by interment in the Anza family lot in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
