NEW BEDFORD — Charles "Chuck" R. Gross Sr., 81, of Acushnet died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Southeastern Mass. Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Born in Fall River, he lived in Freetown for most of his life. Son of the late Edwin "Bert" Gross and Olive (Westgate) Gross. Husband of the late Florence J. (Pittsley) Gross and Louise "Bunny" (Nunes) Gross.
He was a lineman for IBEW until his retirement. He was also an Army veteran and a Chief of the Wampanoag Tribe known as Standing Oak and for being a spiritual healer.
He is survived by 2 sons, Charles "Chuck" R. Gross Jr. and his companion Jennifer A. Carrier and Marty E. Gross of New Bedford; brothers, Roger Gross of Florida and Daniel Gross of Dighton; grandsons, Marty E. Gross Jr., Jason Nunes and Robert Parowski; granddaughters Amanda Gross, Alison Nunes, Bobby Lee Woodis and Robin Parowski; great-grandson Marty E. Gross III; stepchildren, Lyndal Taber, Vicky Dixon, Charlene Everett, Lori Augustus and the late Christine Nunes.
Predeceased by brothers Leroy, Loyd, Larry and Leland "Jobie" Gross and sister Mildred O' Donnell.
Funeral services will be private.
