Obituary

John Peter Gorman (Jack), 91, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on June 4 in the company of his loving family. Originally from Cambridge, he was the son of the late Vincent and Helen (Mitchell) Gorman. A proud Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, Jack served aboard DE57 USS Fogg and DD883 USS Perry and served at Guantanamo Bay as Shore Patrol. Upon his return, he was employed by Westinghouse for many years as a welder in Boston and Hingham. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife, Alice (McGrath), and his brothers Charles and William. He is survived by his loving son, John Gorman, Jr. of California, sisters; Helen Gorman, Barbara Harris, Elizabeth MacDonald, all of Weymouth, Nancy Giatrelis of Osterville, and his brother Thomas of Osterville. Jack was the proud godfather of Diane Harris Walker of Weymouth and Cassie Gorman Hung of Virginia and the devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews near and far. He was dearly loved by all. A celebration of Jack’s life will take place at a family reunion on Cape at the end of June. A memorial mass will occur at a later date.
