Obituary

Ritt, Dorothy Ann (Wintz) of Wayland formerly of Weston, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ann went to be with God on June 23, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. Ann was born on October 12, 1927 in Baltimore, MD, the fifth child of Mr. John A. Wintz and Mrs. Margaret M. Wintz. She graduated from Institute of Notre Dame, where she was the winner of the prestigious IND medal for excellence in academics and athletics. She studied finance at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Ann Wintz married Paul Ritt on December 30, 1950 in Baltimore, MD, embarking on a 65 year-journey, with stops in Vienna and Fairfax, VA, Bethesda, MD; Darien, CT; Weston and finally Wayland, MA. Ann was the fiercely proud mother of six, grandmother to 15, and great-grandmother to two. After being an accomplished basketball player in high school, she became a devoted Celtics fan. However, nothing could match the support that she showed first for her children and then her grandchildren. She was a competitive tennis player into her 80s and realized the dream of attending all of the Grand Slam tournaments.

Ann was proceeded to God’s Kingdom by the love of her life, Paul, on April 12, 2015. She is survived by her son Rev. Paul E. Ritt III of St. Maria Goretti Parish in Lynnfield, MA; son James T. Ritt, his wife Eileen, and their sons, James, Kevin, and Daniel; son Peter, his wife Pamela, and their children Amy, Patrick, Melissa, and Michael; daughter Mary Power, her husband, Jack, and their children J.P. and his wife Kiera, Meghan, Brendan, and Christopher; son John, his wife Sandy, and their children Peter and his wife Emily, John, and Sarah; and son Matthew, his wife Marie, and their children Jane and Mark.
