Antonio Resende Gomes (74) of Brockton died June 23rd in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the former husband of Lourenca Resende.
He was born in Ribeira Elheu, Fogo, Cabo Verde son of the late Manuel Gomes and Josefa Autunes Resende. Antonio has been a Brockton resident since 1977 and a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church. He worked in Quincy at the ship yard and enjoyed farming while in Cape Verde. He was devoted to his church, enjoyed watching wrestling and joking with family and friends.
In addition to his former wife he is survived by 3 sons Antonio Gomes Resende and Manuel Resende Gomes both of Brockton, Joseph Gomes of New Bedford, 4 daughters Fatima and Maria Resende both of Brockton, Josephine Resende of Stoughton and Nhanhazinha Gomes of Dorchester, 27 grandchildren, 2 brothers Jesuino Resende and Antonio Gomes both of Brockton, 3 sisters Maria Santos, Maria Resende and Francisca Resende Gomes all of Brockton.
Funeral Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Wednesday June 29th at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 10 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday June 28th from 5-9 pm.
