FALL RIVER – Fernandina C. (Chaves) Gaspar, age 85 of Fall River, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Kimwell Nursing Center. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the beloved wife of Manuel Gaspar of 59 years and the daughter of the late Jose S. & Maria Luisa (Pavao-Medeiros) Chaves. Fernandina was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church and enjoyed getting together with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Norbert Gaspar (wife Julianne) of Somerset, Gabriel Gaspar of Somerset, Marie St. Pierre (husband William) of Fall River, and Ann Mernick (husband Gordon) of Swansea; 7 grandchildren: Kristopher, Stephanie, Alycia, Barry, Curtis, Wilson, Savannah; 2 great grandchildren: Melanie & Brooklyn; several nieces & nephews, whom she truly adored.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
