Obituary

William “Bill” P. Brander, a longtime resident of Chester, NH, died June 22, 2016 in Parkland Medical Center, Derry NH at the age of 94. He was born in Manhattan, New York City, the son of William and Paula Moser-Brander, who in 1920, on their wedding day, emigrated from Switzerland to the USA. In 1939 Bill graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City. In 1940 he began working at Bell Laboratories in New York City and at the same time attended City College night school. In 1942, at Bell Labs, he met his future wife Marie M. Curtis. He served in World War II, 1944 to 1946, with the U S Army Services of Supply Command – Ordnance Corps. In 1982 after more than 42 years of service he retired from Bell Laboratories.
Hobbies included genealogy, covering up to 400 years of ancestral family lines for all family members, and collecting stamps of Switzerland. Bill also designed homes for himself and his three sons. Bill and Marie enjoyed traveling to 100 countries in addition to hiking, biking, camping and downhill skiing in Europe and the USA.

He is survived by his wife Marie M., three sons, William Brander III and his wife Deborah A., Roman A. Brander and his wife Paula J. and Eric B. Brander and his wife Cheryl, and a former daughter-in law Susan, 6 grandchildren; Donna L. Coleman, William Brander IV and his wife Dawn A. , Heidi M. Teague and her husband Edward R, Wendy E. Sanderson and her husband Bruce U., Marc W. Brander and his wife Heather L., and Gregg A. Brander and his wife Kristen L., 14 great-grandchildren; Amanda J. Baltimore and husband Ted, Andrew M. Brander, Ashleigh C. Brander and partner Timothy Huot, Brittany A. Brander, Cristian M. Brander, Dylan J. Brander, Kyle R. Brander, Logan W. Brander, Hillary J. Hardwick, Nicholas R. Hardwick, Zachary S. Huff, Maxwell A. Sanderson, Abigale L. Teague and Katie M. Teague, and three great-great-grandchildren William P. Brander-Huot, Lily Marie Brander-Huot and Davianna A. Baltimore.
Following cremation, graveside services with honors were held on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 10:00am at the N H State Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 3, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, Tel 877-768-6807 or www.helpwwp.org online
