Obituary

Brian Doherty, age 55, of Brockton, MA died peacefully and entered into heaven surrounded by his family and friends on June 21, 2016 at Brockton Hospital/Signature Healthcare following a brief illness. Born in Dorchester, he was the beloved son of Owen P. Doherty of Brockton and the late Patricia A. (Proctor) Doherty; beloved brother of Mark Doherty and his wife Susan (Boyle) of New York City, beloved brother of Gregory Doherty and his wife Debbie of Easton, and beloved brother to his sister Susan Doherty of Marlborough. He was a devoted and loving father to his son Owen Jr., an adoring uncle to his niece Jessica Doherty, nephew Rocco Doherty Mastrobattista and loving friend of Max Durso and Moly Boyle. Brian will be forever missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he loved very dearly.

Brian was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1979. Upon graduation, Brian began his career in the swimming pool business with Mr. Gunite Pools in West Bridgewater. In 2004, he fulfilled his life long dream of starting his own company and founded Doherty Pool and Spa in Easton. Working daily alongside with his brother Gregory, father Owen, beloved childhood friend Joey Van Deusen, and all of his right hand men; Dennis, George, Michael and Manny, they worked hard everyday to successfully build Doherty Pool and Spa into a highly successful company that was voted as having built one of the top ten most beautiful swimming pools in the United States.

Brian’s son Owen was the apple of his eye and the most beautiful and precious accomplishment of his life. Brian was a master with his hands and enjoyed working around the house on carpentry and masonry projects, and hosting countless family parties. He loved fishing on his boat. Brian was an avid cook having learned his skills and family recipes by cooking along side with his late mother, Patsy. In the summer Brian enjoyed trips to Cape Cod and in his off-season from work, trips to Florida with his family.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Sunday June 26th from 1-4pm followed by a funeral service at 4pm. Burial will be at a later date at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
