Jody D. Swist, 52, of Westport died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the companion of George E. Smith, who she has been with for over 20 years.
Born in Fall River, daughter of Patricia A. (Mendonca) Purcell of FL and the late Michael Purcell, she was a lifelong resident of Westport. Jody enjoyed camping on the Westport River, jet skiing and boating, especially on her jet boat, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Including her mother and companion, she is survived by 2 daughters: Chari Hurley and her husband Dan of Westport and Kely Smith of Westport; her maternal grandmother: Mildred Mendonca of Fall River; 2 brothers: Marty Purcell of Swansea and Guy Purcell and his wife Laurie of Swansea; 4 sisters: Shelly Robbins of Westport, Lori Pacheco and her companion Carl of Fall River, Cindy DeMello of Tiverton and Miki Purcell and her wife Serena; a granddaughter: Julia G. Hurley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Mark Swist.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
