St. Petersburg, FL – Ralph W. Hussey, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Salem, died June 3, 2016 in St. Petersburg following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William C. and Blanche E. (Tremblay) Hussey. A graduate of Salem High School, he attended the Burdett School of Business in Lynn. Ralph was a lifelong resident of North Salem, and for several years, he wintered in St. Petersburg, Florida. He then became a permanent resident of St. Petersburg in 2001.
Ralph was a sports enthusiast. He always followed Salem High sports. For 12 years, he was treasurer of the Salem Pony League and served as commissioner for one year. He took charge of a youth bowling league and used to drive kids to the lanes on Saturdays.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a tank crewman with the 200th Infantry Regiment, 31st Division and attained the rank of Private First Class.
He was employed for many years at the Merchants-Warren National Bank, which was the Shawmut Merchants Bank, N.A. at the time of his retirement.
He is survived by a sister, Nancy Nadeau of Salem, a sister-in-law, Claire Hussey of Hernando, FL and many nieces and nephews including Nancy’s family, Phyllis Maye, Bruce and his wife Nadine Nadeau, Robin Nadeau, Marion McKinney, Zayana Nadeau and Simon Nadeau. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Hussey and a sister, Carol Legault.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the chapel at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, North Street, Salem, at the Peabody line. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
