In Taunton, June 21, 2016 William P. Kiernan husband of Cecelia (Gordon) Kiernan died at Morton Hospital surrounded by his loving family at the age of 86. Born and educated in Taunton, William was the son of the late Patrick and Rose (Sheridan) Kiernan. He enlisted into the US Army during the Korean War serving from 1954-1956. William was a retired grounds keeper for Wheaton College for fifteen years, before that he worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Paul A Dever State School for over thirteen years. He was a lifelong member of the Taunton Lodge of Elk’s #150 and enjoyed the Cape Cod Irish Village, New Hampshire and going out to restaurants with his wife. William was the father of Donna Giovanelli and her husband Robert of Middleboro and Ed Kiernan and his girlfriend Christine Larkin of Taunton. Grandfather of Andrea and Ryan Giovanelli of Middleboro and Patrick and Christine Kiernan of Taunton. Brother of Sheila Freitas of Taunton, Peg Kelly of Taunton and the late Eugene Kiernan, John Kiernan, Patricia Vivieros and Eleanor Sanborn. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton Monday, June 27th at 10 AM. A Mass will be held at St Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-5 PM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
