Joy Augusta Castle, 89, died Tuesday, June 21st at Avalon Health Center.
Joy was born on February 16, 1927 in New York City, daughter of Raymond Rambach and Mary Louise (Hartje) Rambach. She was raised in Newton, Massachusetts and graduated from The Knox School in Cooperstown, NY.
In 1951 she married Steven M. Castle in New York City where Joy had been working after graduating from Katherine Gibbs. Later that year the couple arrived in Stonington where they remained. Over the years, Joy and Steve supported a number of non-profit organizations throughout Southeastern Connecticut. Steve died in 1990.
Joy is survived by her children and their spouses, Barbara and Marc Ginsberg, Thomas and Dorrit Castle, Peter and Deborah Castle, all of Stonington; a sister, Corine Rae of Delray Beach, FL; a brother John Scott Rambach of Elgin, SC; and seven grandchildren.
Joy’s family appreciates the comfort and care provided by The Cottage, Avalon Health Center and Seniors Helping Seniors.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
