Mary Ann Walker Bailey, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, June 24, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bailey was born July 4, 1929, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late William Cleveland & Carrie Lou Johnston Walker. A homemaker, she spent the early years of her married life in New Ellenton, South Carolina, followed by a return to her hometown of Fitzgerald. She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years: Clyde Bailey of Fitzgerald; one sister, Clarice Aycock of Albany; two sons: William “Bill” Bailey of Fitzgerald and Alton Clyde Bailey, Jr. and his wife Elaine Chasteen Bailey of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a daughter: Carrie Jo “C.J.” King and her husband Greg of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter, Tina King of Ocilla; two grandsons: Josh Bailey of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Scott Bailey and his wife Ashley Reece Bailey of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren: Anell Bailey and Chase Bailey, both of Shepherdsville, Kentucky and Corbin Lott of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Diane Bailey Woodrow.
