Obituary


Averbuck Harold , age 81, of South Natick passed away at his home unexpectedly on Friday, June 17, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Norma (Nathanson) to whom he was married for 28 years.

Harold was born and raised in Boston, the son of the late Samuel and Mollie (Forman) Averbuck. Soon after graduating from Newton High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a medic. After his military service, Harold returned home to settle in Newton and opened Villager Fine Foods in West Roxbury. Several years later he opened is own purveyor of fine meats store in Newton, called Averbuck and Company.

Harold fulfilled his dreams including flying his favorite open cockpit plane (Wilma) and earning his sea captains license. For many years he used his flying skills as a pilot and tour guide in Provincetown, MA. It was during his 80th year, however, that Harold received his “M” License, which fulfilled his lifelong dream allowing him to operate his newly acquired motorcycle. This was another way he demonstrated his passion for freedom and travel. In his recent retirement years, Harold became a driving instructor for High Schoolers for Needham Driving School.

Besides his loving wife, Harold is survived by his siblings Phyllis Averbuck, and her husband Richard Sundook, Richard Averbuck and his wife Connie, Susan Averbuck and her husband Norman Kaufman, and Gerry Averbuck.

Harold’s children Philip Averbuck and fiancé Trinette, Steven Averbuck and his wife Sherry, Karen (Averbuck) and her husband Gary Hatch, and Robbie Averbuck; his stepchildren Bonnie and Brian Star. His grandchildren, Andrew, Molly, Isabelle, Daniel and Cody whom he loved so very much as well as his nephews and nieces.

All are invited to join with the family for a celebration of Harold’s life 11 Lookout Farm Road, South Natick, on Sunday, June 26th from 2:00 til 5:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM.
