SWANSEA – Mary C. (Correia) Fernandes, age 97 of Swansea, passed away at home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Antone S. Fernandes. Mary was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Manuel da Luz Correia and the late Emilia (Rodrigues) Correia. Prior to retiring, Mary worked for Samesta Mfg. as a Seamstress. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the former Our Lady of the Angels Church in Fall River. She was also a parishioner of St. Louis de France Church in Swansea.
Survivors include her three daughters: Genevieve C. Fernandes of Swansea, Patricia A. Macero (husband Anthony) of South Easton, and Cynthia F. Monahan (husband Paul) of Somerset; her sister: Leona Megna of Tiverton; five grandchildren: Kathryn M. Monahan, Patrick A. Monahan, Christopher M. Macero, Matthew A. Macero (wife Kerri), and Jason W. Macero; two great-grandchildren: Michael and Leanne Macero; sister-in-law: Sue Correia of Westport; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Correia, Manuel da Luz Correia, Jr., and Arthur R. Correia, BMC, USN (Ret.).
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea at 10:00 A.M.
