Alice McSwain Youghn, 83, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Youghn was born November 6, 1932, in Berrien County, Georgia to the late Pleas A. & Minnie Yawn McSwain. She was a homemaker and lived in the community most of her life. She worked at Polly’s, Hybernia’s, and McMillan Jewelers. Mrs. Youghn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and keeping them while their parents worked. She loved gardening and growing flowers as well as cooking and feeding her family. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Eugene Youghn of Ocilla; a son: Donnie & Kim Youghn of Ocilla; a daughter: Karen Youghn Noe of Atlanta; three grandchildren: Bryan Youghn, Cody Youghn & fiancé Anna Williams, and Kaley Youghn; four great-grandchildren: Zach Youghn, Zoey Youghn, Ali Teston, and Jax Youghn; and two sisters: Mattie & Prather Pitts of McRae and Elma Hutto of Macon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Chris Youghn; a brother, Troy McSwain; and two sisters: Mamie Amsler and Myra Johns.
