Obituary

David S. Simoncini, 66, of Pequot Avenue, Mystic, passed away Saturday, June 18 , 2016 at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London after a very brief illness, surrounded by his loving siblings.

A lifelong resident of Mystic, David was born in New London in 1949, the eldest of three children to the late Frank S. and Sadie (Godomsky) Simoncini.

David was a 1967 graduate of St. Bernard High School and a 1971 graduate of Nasson College of as Manager of Manufacturing He worked as Manager of Manufacturing for George C. Moore for 14 years in their different plants in Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He then returned home in 1986 to join his father and brother in the family business, Frank’s Service Station. Many people in town knew him as the tow truck man. He was known for his quick wit, easy smile, always having a story to tell. He would always wave at people as they drove by. He liked his fast cars, good food, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

David is survived by his brother Stephen F. Simoncini, his sister Susan Simoncini Kiernan, and by many cousins.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St. in Mystic on Friday evening, June 24, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The funeral will assemble at the Dinoto Funeral Home at 8:30 am on Saturday and proceed to a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road in Groton. Burial will immediately follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Old Mystic.
