GILFORD - Susan Ursula Decker, 72, of 7 Allen Road, died Sunday, June 19, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 11, 1944 in Bronx, NY, the youngest of two children born to Gilbert Joseph and Anne (Bergevin) Norz. She attended parochial school and also St. Barnabas High School in the Bronx. She and her family moved to Laconia in the late 60's and then to Gilford. Susan worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing as a machinist and inspector, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed the outdoors, planting in her garden and being in the sun. Susan loved trips to the beach, such as Short Sands at York Beach and also enjoyed camping in the White Mountain National Forest. She was known for her great sense of humor. Susan was an amazing craftswoman, frequently showing her abilities in her quilting, painting, sewing and knitting. She was also a fantastic cook.
She is survived by her husband, David Decker of Gilford, two sons; Gilbert L. Pidgeon of Gilford and Donald V. Pidgeon of Dover, one daughter, Danielle LaFond and her husband Brandon of Gilford, one step daughter, Kimberly (Decker) Knight and her husband Alex of Billerica, MA, two step-sons; Douglas Decker and his wife Jennifer of Rochester and Keith Decker and his wife Denise of Manchester, six grandchildren; Gabrielle Pidgeon of Laconia, Dalton Pidgeon of Gilmanton, Riley Pidgeon of Dover, Garritt Pidgeon of Dover, Chelsea LaFond of Danbury and Alissa LaFond of Gilford and six step-grandchildren; Benjamin Knight, Eric Knight and Megan Knight, all of Billerica, MA, Taryn Decker of New York, NY, Amara Decker of Rochester and Kelsey Decker of Manchester.
Calling hours will be held from 4Pm to 7Pm on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7PM, also at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
